Georgia M. Mitchell's Obituary
Georgia M. Mitchell, 88, of New Haven, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at home with her family by her side. Born in Cumberland, KY, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva (Sears) Hogg. She worked at Lincoln Life Insurance, Fort Wayne and managed the License Bureau in New Haven, with her husband Joe. She was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church, where she was the past local and regional president for the United Methodist Women and participated Bible studies as well. She also was a past member of the New Haven Jaycee's. Georgia enjoyed puzzles, gardening, singing, and playing the piano. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived her son, David Austin (Sherma Pierson) Mitchell of Rome City; daughters, Rebecca Jean Baldwin of New Haven and Joni Renee (Stan) Hernly of Lawrence, KS; granddaughters, Haley Jean Quandt of Fort Wayne, Dr. Ellen Marie (Evan Schwartz) Hernly of Prairie Village, KS, Erica Ann (Jonathan Harper) Hernly of Oakland, CA, and Elizabeth Hernly of Lawrence, KS; great grandchildren, Annie and Charlie Schwartz. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joe in 2016; and son Dean.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Hwy E., New Haven with calling two hours prior (9-11 AM). Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven.
