Gene "Gib" Gibson's Obituary
Gene “Gib” Gibson, 82, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at home with his family by his side. Born in Lebanon, Virginia he was the son of the late Hampton “Hoot” and Roseann “Rosie” (Johnson) Gibson. He was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church, New Haven. During his 60 year career he was a teacher, principal and most recently the owner and operator of Gibson Motors.
He is survived by wife of 60 years, Ernestine; children, Michael (Michelle Lash) Gibson of New Haven, Susan (Brian) Sears of Martinsville, Dawn Gibson of Columbus, and Jan (Steve) Bullington of Zionsville; grandchildren, Steven and Chrissy Day, Luke, Kaiti, and Jackson Bullington, Evan (Julia) and Jill Sears, Lisa (Zach) Clemens, Andrew (Pauline) Gibson, and Ryan (Kristin Minerd) Gibson; and great granddaughter, Alice Gibson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmie Dale Gibson.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Hwy E., New Haven. Pastor Chuck Fenwick officiating. Calling is also 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven.
