Genevieve "Gen" Elnora Meyer, 87, formerly of New Haven, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Lutheran Life Villages, Fort Wayne. Born on January 7, 1928 in Centreville, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Gertrude (Zelt) Keiser. After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from the Fort Wayne Art School. On July 9, 1950 she married Theodore (Ted) Meyer who preceded her in death in June 2014. Gen's love of the beauty of God's creation, especially wildflowers and birds, was evident in her paintings. She also worked at First Land Title in Fort Wayne and Purvis Drugstore in New Haven. A member of Martini Lutheran Church, Genevieve was very active in the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League.
She is survived by her daughters, Lenore Loos of New Haven and Beth (Dan) Burt of Loganville, GA; sister, Phyllis (Harry) Hock of Woodstock, GA; and grandchildren, Sarah (Jeremy) Loos Karnowski of Pittsburgh, PA, Laura (Sam Wood) Meyer of La Crosse, WI, Luke Meyer of Indianapolis, Cory Burt of Savannah, GA, and Adam Burt of Loganville, GA. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Meyer.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Lutheran Life Villages Chapel, 6701 S. Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Chaplain Mike Wakeland officiating. Calling is also 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lutheran Life Villages Chapel. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to Lutheran Life Villages Chapel, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, or Martini Lutheran Church.
