Fred "Fritz" Wietfeldt's Obituary
Fred "Fritz" Wietfeldt, 88, of Hoagland, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Monroeville, he was the son of the late Fred H. and Wilhelmina (nee. Busse) Wietfeldt. Fritz married Leona (nee. Bradtmueller) Wietfeldt on Oct. 6, 1945. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was loved and respected by many. He will be greatly missed. He was an active member of Martini Lutheran Church, New Haven serving as church deacon and elder for a many years. He was a past member of the Central Lutheran School Board and the Lutheran Laymen's League. For 18 years he was a volunteer fireman for the Adams Twp. Fire Department. He retired in 1990 after farming for 53 years and driving school bus for EACS for 43 years.
Fred is survived by his children: Dennis (Irma) Wietfeldt, Nila (Duane) Widenhoefer, Marilyn Jackson, and Michael (Kim) Wietfeldt; sister: Ruth Linnemeier; sister-in-law Marie Wietfeldt, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Leona in 2009, daughter, Carol Wietfeldt in April of 2013; siblings: Paul & Marvin Wietfeldt, Lydia Busick, Flora Schluesemier, Vera Schuller, Verena Bleeke, Frieda Bultemeier and Lorinda Christian.
Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Martini Lutheran Church, 333 Moeller Rd., New Haven, with calling one hour prior to service. Rev. Herbert Gerken officiating. Calling is also 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial is in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to Martini Lutheran Church or Parkview Hospice.
