Fred Shaheen's Obituary
Fred Shaheen, 87, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Damascus, Syria, he was the son of the late Hassan and Afifeh Shaheen. He retired in 1981 from International Harvester after 27 years. His giving nature led him to volunteer as a translator for the American Red Cross, help individuals in the community with filing their taxes, and opened his home to many foreign students over the years. He was also the past president of Al-Manar Club, Fort Wayne. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen (Doehrman) Shaheen; children, Sam (Sandy Townsley) Shaheen and Linda (Nick) Emenhiser both of New Haven; six grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren with one on the way. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; and two sisters. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 940 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling two hours prior.
