Franklin "Frank" Hartman's Obituary
Franklin “Frank” W. Hartman, 72, of St. Joe, IN, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was the son of the late Walter and Wilhelmina (Schultz) Hartman. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He proudly served his country in the Air National Guard. Frank worked for many years as a carpenter with Thiele Construction and as a maintenance manager at Goeglein’s Catering, Fort Wayne. He was a lifelong farmer with his Hartman Produce and Hartman Turkey Farm; as well as spending years volunteering with the Boy Scouts and as a trustee with Lake James Lutheran Chapel. He loved spending any available moment at the family cottage on Lake Gage, reading, boating, and watching the sunrise. He loved hiking and going RV-ing with his wife, Chris, and was looking forward to their annual trip to Florida this year. He was known near and far for his amazing, affordable, delicious produce. Frank’s pumpkins decorated many a porch in the area.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christine (Love) Hartman; children, Angi (Michael) Rees, and Douglas (Robin) Hartman; grandchildren, Bayli Rees, Avery, Mabel, Henry, and Eliza Hartman. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Stan Hartman and Melinda Kolb; and granddaughter, Maizie Hartman.
Funeral service is 12 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2024, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7710 E State Blvd, Fort Wayne with visitation three hours prior (9am-Noon). Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials to Lake James Lutheran Chapel, or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
