Franklin E. Forsyth's Obituary
Franklin E. Forsyth, 83, of New Haven, died Thursday February 27, 2014 at Genesis Healthcare, New Haven. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late Alpha and M. LaVerne Forsyth. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a lifelong member of the New Haven United Methodist Church and life member V.F.W. Post 2457. Frank was also a member of American Legion Post 330, I.O.O.F. Harmony Lodge 14, and New Haven Alumni Band. He retired in 1995 after 40 years as superintendent of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Frank had been a longtime bus driver for East Allen County Schools.
He is survived by his children, Becky (Kent) Notestine of Woodburn; Linda (Dave) Lewis of Ossian, Paul (Pam) Forsyth and Mark Forsyth both of New Haven; siblings, June Doty of Fort Wayne, Evelyn Schimmoller of Tampa, FL, Phyllis Husband of Huntington, and Robert (Sharon) Forsyth of Constantine, MI; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife Virginia; son, David; brother Charles and grandson, Benjamin Chiddister.
Service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 Indiana 930 East, New Haven, with calling one hour prior to service. Calling is also 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven with military honors. Preferred memorials are to Riley Children's Hospital – Cardiology Department in memory of Frank's son David.
