Floyd Eugene Place's Obituary
Floyd Eugene Place, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Louis and Ruth (Slentz) Place. He was the manager of transportation for East Allen County Schools, retiring after 35 years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking and fishing trips, especially to Canada. He also enjoyed tinkering with clocks, motors, and even created a stereo system before they were on the market. He is survived by his children, Gene (Gail) Place of New Haven, Debby (Steve) Minick of Fort Wayne and Lori (Wayne) Colby of Utah; companion, Nancy Myer; nine grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Carol in 2019; son, Kevin Place; siblings, Mary Lou Minich and Frederick Place; and great grandson, Emerson Folkemer. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation two hours prior.
