Your Dad was really cool, Michelle. I remember when you all came over to our place for family pictures and I happened to catch him and your Mom on camera sitting together in the garden - it turned out to be my favorite photo of the day. Not to mention the musical party times! He left good remembrances for you. God bless you all.

Sending our sympathy and prayers at the passing of my godfather, "Uncle Gene". I will miss you and hold my memories of many special times spent together close to my heart. I remember how much my dad loved playing with Uncle Gene and the TearDrops. May God be with you at this time in your life, bringing you peace and comfort. With all of our love, Mary Martin and Angie (Martin) Murphy
I remember when Gene and I were about 12-13 years old. He had a brand new Fender guitar and I had a Harmony acoustic; we would sit in his room learning chords together, singing gospel and bluegrass music. In high school, we remained good friends, but he was in the band, I worked at Franke Platings.
Our senior year in high school Gene and I were part of a building crew with Bill Music. We built houses as part of a four-man crew, working through the spring, summer, and fall. I joined the Army and Gene married Nancy.
When I returned from the Army, I went to one of Gene’s gigs in Van Wert where I met my future wife, Dee. If it had not been for Gene I probably would never have met the love of my life. Gene’s band, The Teardrops, played for our wedding reception.
The Class of '58 remembers our processional for graduation when Gene, playing the trumpet, led us all in to the auditorium with "When the Saints Go Marching In". Many good memories.
Dear Eicher family:
I am so sorry for your loss. Gene was one of my mom's best friends if not her best friend. I always enjoyed the times we'd get together. I loved playing guitar with him even though he was way out of my league. I remember sometimes I'd just stop and listen and watch him. He'll be missed.
Take care,
Rob Amstutz
Sending love and prayers to the entire Firestine family. We're sorry for your loss. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.
