Erwin "Rack" C. Rekeweg's Obituary
Erwin "Rack" C. Rekeweg, 92, of Woodburn, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at Adams Heritage, Monroeville. Born in Woodburn, he was the son of the late Fred and Frieda Rekeweg. He was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, Woodburn. He owned and operated Rack and Helen's in both Woodburn and New Haven, retiring in 1981.
He is survived by his wife Irene; children, Mike Rekeweg of Fort Wayne, Rita (Bill) James of Coldwater, Deborah (Dan) Coomer of Woodburn, and Kim (Kevin) Baumert of Monroeville; step-children, Joe (Linda) Messmann and Marsha (Mike) Rohrs both of Antwerp, OH, Joy Messmann of Woodburn, and Margie (Dan) Gordon of Cecil, OH; step daughter-in-law, Jean Messmann of Woodburn; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Messmann; brothers, Wilfred and Herbert Rekeweg; grandson, David Rekeweg; daughter-in-law, Becki Rekeweg; and step-son; Dick Messmann.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, 4412 Park St., Woodburn with calling one hour prior. Rev. Timothy Edwards officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to the Adams Heritage or Worship for Shut-ins.
