Ernest Gray's Obituary
Ernest (Ernie) Gray, 72, of New Haven, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022, at home with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Lonas and Hester (Lawson) Gray. He served his country in the US Army and was a member of American Legion Post 241, Waynedale. He enjoyed his job so much that he attempted to retire three times. He finally retired in 2020 from Hook Industrial Sales after 44 years. Ernie enjoyed camping, the mountains, bluegrass music and being with his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue; children, Chad Gray of New Haven and Christy (Thomas) Francher of Grabill; siblings, Jim Gray of New Haven and Ruby (Henry) Smith of Arjay, KY; and grandson, Wyatt Francher. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Lola Carpenter and Lester Vaughn. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial in IOOF Cemetery with military honors. Preferred memorials are to the Wounded Warriors Project.
