Emily Hyde's Obituary
Emily (Sertich) Hyde, 83, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living. Born in Superior, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Holy) Sertich. Emily graduated from IPFW/Ball State with a master’s degree in nursing. She dedicated her career to teaching CNA classes, home care, and retired from the Fort Wayne State Developmental Center. She was also the owner of the Buttons and Bellows Accordion Studio. After retirement she enjoyed being active in the community volunteering with Project Read and the Meadowbrook Community Association. She was a member of New Haven Women’s Club, past member of Toastmistress, past member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #432, and a past Division Governor/DTM with Toastmaster’s International.
Surviving are her children Joseph (Rita) Hyde, Julianne Hyde, and James (Carrie) Hyde all of Fort Wayne. Emily was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wilbur “Wil” Hyde Jr on March 16, 2018; seven brothers; and one sister.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Chuck Fenwick officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 at the funeral home with an Eastern Star service at 5:30 p.m. Burial in IOOF Cemetery New Haven.
