Elizabeth "Ann" Staadt's Obituary
Elizabeth “Ann” Staadt, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at her residence with her family by her side. We are confident a 1914 Fiat was sent down from heaven to pick her up and take her home. Ann was born in Great Bend, KS on November 3, 1934, the only daughter of the late Lloyd and Harriet (Martin) Elliott. She grew up in Superior, Nebraska and graduated from Superior High School in 1952. There she met her future husband, Richard Staadt, and they married on September 10, 1955. Ann was a nurse by training, but most of her life she pursued other vocations. She owned and managed several downtown Fort Wayne rental properties, was the A of the local portable storage business A/R Port-A-Store, and a published novelist. Ann authored 17 romance novels from 1994-2017. Antique cars were a passion Richard and Ann shared, and Ann was not content to just ride in the passenger seat of an antique car. She was a past president of the Historical Auto Association, a life member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America, and the Veteran Motor Car Club. She was the top-notch organizer behind many antique car tours such as the Red Rocks Tour and the Cabin Fever Tour. Together Richard and Ann immensely enjoyed the antique car hobby, and this hobby took them on travels throughout the USA and all over the world. But more importantly, through this hobby lifelong friendships were made. Ann will be missed by many. Ann leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Richard Staadt and sons, David and Gary, and daughters-in-laws, Candy and Mary Ruth. Ann has 6 grandchildren, Stephanie Ann Staadt, Frances Ann Staadt, Elizabeth Lea Staadt, Seth Earl, Lucas Earl, and Amanda Wickey, and 8 great grandchildren, Finn, McKenzie, Lakeyn, Vienna, Vierra, Madisyn, Thaddeus, and Olive. Funeral service is 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St Rd 930 E., New Haven with visitation two hours prior (12:30 to 2:30 p.m.). Pastor Brent Allen Officiating. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. The service will be streamed LIVE at https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/ann-staadt and at www.harperfuneralhome.com. Preferred memorials to the Pathway Community Church, Fort Wayne.
