Elizabeth "Betty" A. Kumming Purvis' Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" A. Kumming Purvis, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away September 17, 2014 at Parkview Regional Home Health and Hospice, Fort Wayne. Born in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Jesse Call, Sr. She was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church and attended Townhouse Chapel. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She attended DePauw University. Betty was lover of life, believed that one should always be kind, and always put others before herself. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were among her greatest joys in life.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Purvis Sr. where they lived at Towne House Retirement Community; children, Debbie (Bill) Moord and Rick (Melea) Kumming both of New Haven; sister, Madonna Brunson of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Joshua, Timothy (Amy), Zachary (Jessica), Nathanael, and Chloe Moord, Brooke (Kyle) Nelson, and Tony and Erick (Porsche) Kumming; and almost 12 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Paul Kumming in 1995; and brother, Ralph Call, Jr.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Hwy E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Chuck Fenwick officiating. Calling is also 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
