Eleanor Gerbers' Obituary
Eleanor Gerbers, 99, of New Haven, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Lutheran Life Villages South Anthony, Fort Wayne. Born in Woodburn, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Laurena (Lesher) Kammeyer. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven, where she was active in the Evangelism Committee, the Ladies Society, and the Quilting Club. She retired in 1985 as owner of Larry & El’s Bar, Woodburn. She enjoyed her flower garden, quilting, and sewing. She especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Janice (Jim) Dager, Gary (Marilyn) Gerbers, and Dean (Fay) Gerbers; sister, Esther (Paul) Goeglein; grandchildren, Jim (Donna) Dager, John (Jeanette) Dager, Jennifer (Cory) Domanski, Brooke Gerbers, and Jacob Gerbers; great grandchildren, Christian, Preston, Ashlyn, Maddison, Abbigail, and Lillian; She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Lawrence J. Gerbers; son, Brent M. Gerbers; brothers, Fred, Melvin, Harold, and Clarence Kammeyer. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2024, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St, New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2023, at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E. New Haven. Burial in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Woodburn. Preferred memorials are to the Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven or Worship Anew.
