Eleanor C. Ehinger's Obituary
Eleanor C. Ehinger, 95, entered her Heavenly home on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Cecilia (Kamp) Schnelker. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven and the Altar Sodality. A dedicated homemaker and devoted mother, she worked at General Electric during World War II. She was a member of the Happy Harmony Purdue Home Extension Club, Harvest House, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 330. She was passionate about playing cards, sports, gardening, and watching her Chicago Cubs win the World Series. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she loved being a grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Louis (Sharon) Ehinger of Charleston, SC, William (Stephanie) Ehinger of Yelm, WA, Stephen (Beth) Ehinger of Spencerville, Kathleen (Michael) Thieme of Monroeville, Christine (Mark) Rupp of Fort Wayne, and Martha Chriske of Oak Creek, WI; brother, Philip (Mary Ann) Schnelker of Fort Wayne; sister-in-law, Genevieve Daly of New Haven; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren with one on the way. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1992; three brothers; and five sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Father Bill Sullivan officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E. New Haven with a vigil service at 3:45 p.m. Burial in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to Masses, Turnstone Center for Children and Adults with Disabilities, or Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
