Edwin N. Gerardot's Obituary
Edwin N. Gerardot, 82, of New Haven passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Born on June 10, 1929 in Woodburn, he was the son of the late Julian and Catherine (Spieth) Gerardot. Ed was a World War II Army veteran and a truck driver for Roadway Express for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven, and American Legion Post 330. Ed enjoyed playing pinochle, dancing, working outside and a cold beer. The past few years he enjoyed playing checkers, working jig-saw puzzles, visiting with family and taking walks with "Chico", his pet Chihuahua.
He will be greatly missed and is survived by his children, Mary (Michael) Steenman, Kathleen (Rick) Miller and Angela (Clayton) Collins all of Fort Wayne, Edwin Gerardot, Jr. of New Haven, Patricia (Dean) Rothgeb and Timothy Gerardot both of Monroeville; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; the mother of his children; Shirley Stilwell of New Haven; brother, Robert (Betty) Gerardot of Fort Wayne; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Judith; brothers, Harold, Bernard, and Charles; and sisters, Virginia Ackermann, Mary Lee and Donna Egnor.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. The Father James Seculoff officiating. Calling is 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a rosary at 4:30p.m. Burial is in Blue Creek Cemetery, Paulding, Ohio with military honors. Preferred memorials are to Alzheimer's Foundation or Masses.
