Edgar A. "Ed" Vondran's Obituary
Edgar "Ed" A. Vondran, 75, of New Haven, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at home. He was the son of the late Louis and Maude (Burkett) Vondran. Ed was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven where he served as an usher, and an elder; and the Lake James Lutheran Chapel. He retired from Zollner Piston Corp.in 1999 after 37 years of service. He was a past member of the Central Lutheran School Board, president of the Zollner Credit Union and president of the Zollner Quarter Century Club. Ed served his country as a member of the Indiana Army National Guard. He loved watching "his" Chicago Cubs, IU basketball and football, gardening, boating and drawing pictures for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlene (Messmann) Vondran; daughter, Joellyn (David) Petry of Spencerville; sons, Douglas (Michelle) of Harlan, and Matthew of New Haven; grandchildren: Joshua (Kara) Petry, Ashley Petry, Nicole Petry, and Lily Vondran; great-grandson, Cole Petry; brother, Danny Vondran; and sister, Mary Ann Vorndran both of New Haven. He was preceded in death by sisters: Rosie, Nan, Millie and Midge; brothers: June, Edward, Bill, Harold "Bub", Harry, Ron and Curt.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Paul Shoemaker officiating. Calling is also 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial is
in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Emanuel Lutheran Church, or Lake James Lutheran Chapel.
