Dwight Lewis' Obituary
Dwight S. Lewis, 95, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Greystone Health & Rehab, Fort Wayne. Born in Monroe County, IA, He was the son of the late Trace and Lena (Jones) Lewis. He was a plant manager for 37 years at Getty Oil Company, Fort Wayne where he retired in 1983. After retirement, he and his wife owned and operated Lewis Skelgas, Fort Wayne. He was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church, New Haven and was a member of the Kiwanis, New Haven, where he was the recipient of The Man of The Year of Indiana. Dwight proudly served his country during WW II where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #330, New Haven. He is survived by his sons, David Lewis, and Stephen “Dale”(Cindy Archibald) Lewis both of Key West, FL; Sister, Marylou Ecker of IL; grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Loser of New Haven, Jamie Lewis and Jeremy (Angie) Lewis both of Fort Wayne; great-grandchildren, Katie Loser, Faith Lewis, Allison Lewis, and Ava McComb; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor Jean (White) Lewis; daughter, Barbara Lewis; siblings, Ralph Lewis, Faye Waters and Fern Gibbs; great-grandson, Caleb Lewis. Funeral service is Noon Tuesday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling two hours prior. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven with military honors. Pastor Rick Cockman officiating. Preferred memorials are to New Haven United Methodist Church.
