Duane R. Sutter's Obituary
Duane R. Sutter, 77, of Fort Wayne, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 at IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis following surgery for an aortic aneurysm. Born on May 23, 1934 in rural Allen County, he was the son of the late Forrest and Agnes (nee. Maldeney) Sutter. He was a 1952 graduate of New Haven High School and a 1957 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. He retired from Magnavox in 1993 as a Staff Mechanical Engineer. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, camping, and restoring 1950's era automobiles, in particular 59' Studebakers and Cadillacs.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elaine (nee. Rody) Sutter; children, Vince (Denise) Sutter, Greg (April) Sutter, Karen (Bill) Bougher, Eric (Amanda) Sutter, and Brian (Sara) Sutter; grandchildren, Sam Collis, Rachel Bougher, Alecia Sutter, Michael Bougher, Brock Sutter, Lindsey Sutter, Jason Sutter, Erika Bougher, Sam Wyss, Matthew Sutter, Jackie Sutter, Brooke Sutter and Taylor Sutter; and brother, Dale (Barb) Sutter.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Father James Seculoff officiating. Calling is also 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a rosary at 2:45 p.m. Entombment is in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to Masses or Matthew 25.
