Dorothy L. Kantz's Obituary
Dorothy L. Kantz, 95, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Parkview Hospital - Randallia, Fort Wayne. Born in South Bend, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Emma (Jensen) Biro. She was a past member of the New Haven United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She retired in 1981 after a 23-year career as a teacher. She loved teaching and was known as the favorite teacher to many. She especially enjoyed helping kids with reading disabilities. She was also a past member of the Model A Club, played the organ, and loved animals. She is survived by her children, Gary (Beth) Kantz of New Haven and Diane (Jim) Byrd of Livermore, CA; sister, Ruth De Freeuw of South Bend; grandchildren, Justin (Alanna) Kantz, Jared (Sarah) Kantz, and Christy Byrd; and great grandson, Dawson Kantz. She was also preceded in death by her husband, M. Dean Kantz in 2003; and second husband, Carl McNutt in 2011. Graveside service is 10 a.m. Saturday at IOOF Cemetery, 1109 Hartzell Rd, New Haven.
