Dorothy J. "Dottie" "DJ" Coonrod-Smith, 78, of New Haven, died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Mary Oberley. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven and former member of St. Louis Catholic Church – Besancon, New Haven. She is survived by her son, Dan Coonrod of New Haven; step-children, Ronald Smith of New Haven, Mike (Sheila) Smith and Shari (Ken) Schaab both of Fort Wayne, and Steve (Carolyn) Smith of Tenn.; siblings, Dolores Coonrod and Donna Lillo both of Fort Wayne, and Russell (Nancy) Oberley of FL; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ronald Smith and Richard Coonrod; and brother, Bill Oberley. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Ed. 930 E., New Haven. The Rev. David Stecker officiating. Calling is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer's Association.
