Dorothy Ann Alles' Obituary
Dorothy Ann Alles, 87, of New Haven, died Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Cedarhurst at Fort Wayne. Born in Ottawa, OH, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Matilda (Maas) Edelbrock. She was a member of St. Louis the Besancon Catholic Church, New Haven. She helped start the CCD program and was a coordinator for several years. She also taught second grade and first communion class. She retired in 2006 from East Allen County Schools after 30 years. After retirement she tutored first and second graders in Project Reads for several years. She also belonged to the New Haven Women's Club. Dorothy had a deep love for her family and her happiest times were spent making memories with them. She enjoyed making coffee cake and puppy chow for the grandkids. She also loved making her "special slushie drinks" for her adult family and friends, which were loved by many. She could often be found sewing, quilting, and tending to the garden with her family.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Kathy) Alles, Ann (Ron) Kreienbrink, Nancy (Barry) O'Shaughnessey, and Chris (Kim) Alles; sister, Marie Hoyt, and Diane Mixa; son-in-law, Jeff Sovine; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, DeVon in 2017; children, Tim Alles, Vicki Ritenour, and Kay Sovine; and sister, Helen Honigfort.
Memorial mass is 10 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church, 15535 Lincoln Hwy E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 704 State Road 930 E., New Haven. Inurnment at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
