Dorene A. Richert's Obituary
Dorene Ann (nee: Detlaff) Richert, 87, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Cedarhurst of Fort Wayne. Born in Glenburn, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Margaret (Broderson) Detlaff. Dorene became a child of God through baptism and was later confirmed in the Lutheran faith on July 23, 1950. She was a devoted wife to Fay Richert for over 60 years, who preceded her in death in 2015. She was a loving stay-at-home mother to her two children, Mark and Monica. Her greatest joy was babysitting and playing games with her six grandchildren. She was a member of Martini Lutheran Church, New Haven and was very active in the Ladies Aid and LWML. An avid card player, she was always ready for a game of Euchre and loved to play board games with her family. She accompanied Fay in delivering RVs across the country for ten years in their retirement and worked at the front desk at her son's chiropractic office. She also volunteered for several years at the Allen County election polls.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Anita) Richert of New Haven and Monica (Glen) Steiner of Villa Park, IL; grandchildren, Alaina (Kevin) and Sabrina (George) Richert, Kelsey (Michael) Walz, Collin (Amy), Kirsten, and Kyle Steiner; great grandson, Ezra Walz; brothers-in-law, Gay (Lori) Richert and David Richert both of Canada; step-mother-in-law, Orpha Richert of Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Detlaff, Ralph Detlaff and Norma Richert; and brother-in-law, Ray Richert, who passed away just two days prior.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Martini Lutheran Church, 333 Moeller Rd., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Kyle Brown officiating. Visitation is also 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, New Haven.
