Donald Frederick Werling's Obituary
Donald Frederick Werling, 77, of New Haven passed away the morning of Friday, September 13, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born August 29, 1936, he was the son of the late Ernest and Annita Werling. He grew up in rural Allen County and began repairing automobiles for friends at a young age. He was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven and a strong supporter of Central Lutheran School. He retired in 2011 as the owner and operator of Werling's Body Shop, Inc. after 56 years in business.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annette (nee Bradtmueller); children, Darwin Werling and Dawn (Steve) Poor both of New Haven; siblings, Berniece Baker of Willshire, OH and Marv Werling of New Haven; grandchildren, Heather (Matt) Lamb, Douglas (Laura) Werling, Ryan Poor, and Faith Poor; four great grandchildren; and eight foreign exchange students.
Funeral service is 3:30 p.m. Monday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Rev. Paul Shoemaker officiating. Calling is also 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial is in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Worship for Shut-ins, Emanuel Lutheran Church, or Central Lutheran School.
