Reverend Donald D. Nord's Obituary
The Reverend Donald D. Nord, 76, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020. He was born to the late Ervin and Lillian (Hormann) Nord, on August 26th, 1944 in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in 1962 and attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, University of Rochester (New York), and Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne. He married his sweetheart Barbara (Krumwiede) Nord, who survives him, in 1965 and they spent 56 happy years together. After college, Donald worked at Bausch & Lomb, and later owned Nord Engineering, Roanoke, Indiana. After attending Concordia Theological Seminary, he was called to be Pastor at the following churches throughout his years of service, Shepard of the Valley, LaSalle, Illinois, St. Luke’s, Montgomery, Illinois, and St. Peters Lutheran, Fort Wayne, until retirement in 2011. He loved fishing, flying, and the outdoors. Much of his youth ministry was done outdoors. He will be most remembered for the love he shared with everyone he met. Don is survived by his children, Don Nord, Rose Wilkins, Paul (Sherri) Nord, Matt “USA” Nord, Dana (Ralph) Ecker, Jessica Nord, Nicole (Colin) Brown; grandchildren, Tim Wilkins, Micah Nord, Melissa (Jon) Faux, Melodie Nord, August Nord, Dayana Ecker; great-grandchildren, Brady Faux, Hailey Faux, Roman Brown; and siblings, Ken (Judy) Nord, Larry (Nancy) Nord. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Steve Ahlersmeyer officiating. Visitation is also 2 to 6 p.m., Wednesday at the church. Mask required for both. If you do not have one, one will be provided. Burial in the church cemetery.
