Donald Gene Brown's Obituary
Donald Gene Brown, 88, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mathilda (Bearman) Brown. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven, where he was an usher, deacon, trustee, cemetery trustee, and Sunday school superintendent. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1982 from Navistar after 32 years. Don enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, gardening, and landscaping. He also was fond of woodworking and “fixing things.” He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane (Heine) Brown; daughters, Cheryl (Andy) Birkmire of Monroeville, Connie (Greg) Schmidt of Woodburn, and Carla (Ray) Alexander of Fort Wayne; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Harold E. Brown. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St, New Haven visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E, New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery with military honors. Preferred memorials are to the church or Worship Anew.
