Donald Ervin Amstutz's Obituary
Donald Ervin Amstutz, 89, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne. He was the son of the late Ervin and Marie (Rousch) Amstutz. He was a 1953 graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School and member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Don was in the radio broadcasting business for over 30 years, mostly with WGL. He was one of the early DJs of rock and roll, especially when the Beatles hit the airwaves. He was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and the Harley Owners Group. He enjoyed being a private pilot too. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending all their activities.
He is survived by his sons, James (Shianne) Amstutz and Anthony (Stacy) Amstutz both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Scott (Lynell), Kevin (Natalie), Jacob (Alexis), Andrew, and Kaitlyn Amstutz; great grandchildren, Genevieve and Noelle Amstutz. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Gloria (Panning) Amstutz in 2019; and siblings, Freeman, Oscar, Art, Alvin, Fred, and Kenneth Busche, Martha Essex, and Mildred Amstutz.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Doug Croucher officiating. Visitation is also 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne with military honors.
