Dolores E. Schmidt's Obituary
Dolores E. Schmidt (Bowers), 83, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at home with her family by her side. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Grace (Bobay) Gibson. Dolores was a giving and devout mother who spent her life caring for her family. She enjoyed people, playing cards, cake decorating, and fishing. Her greatest love was for the Lord and encouraging others in their walk with Him.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Alfred; children, Alvin (Deb) Bowers of Monroeville, Cathy Glover, Linda Bowers, Cindy Bowers, and Laurie (Chad) Black all of Fort Wayne, Robert Bowers and Brenda Bowers both of New Haven; step-children, Dianna Schmidt, Steven Schmidt, and Cindy (Paul) Sabrack all of Fort Wayne, and DeWayne (KayAnn) Schmidt of Ossian; sister, Geraldine (Virgil) Huguenard of New Haven; nine grandchildren; six step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Merlin Bowers; siblings, Delbert Gibson, Ralph Gibson, and Evelyn Morris; and step daughter, Deborah Schmidt.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in St. Louis Besancon Catholic Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to donor’s choice.
