Delmar L. Gerbers' Obituary
Delmar L. Gerbers, of New Haven, died May 2, 2015 at Woodview Assisted Living, Fort Wayne. Born in Allen County, he was the son of the late Gerhard and Freida (Schaper) Gerbers. Delmar retired as an assembler at International Harvester in 1981 after 32 years of service. He was a very active member at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. He was an avid bowler for 60 years and was in national tournaments for 40 years.
Delmar is survived by his children, Terry Gerbers of New Haven, Joette (Stanley) Heine of Fremont, and Jay (Gina) Gerbers of Fort Wayne; siblings, Kenneth (Kathy) Gerbers of Fort Wayne, Marcile (Clarence) Reichhart of Woodburn, Dorothy (Theodore) Hover of NV, and Joan (Charles) Wells of Woodburn; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia (Doctor) Gerbers in November of 2014 and his son, Timothy in 1973.
Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Scott A. Zeckzer officiating. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Woodburn. Preferred memorials are to Worship for Shut-Ins and the church.
