David "Dave" Michael Speith Sr.'s Obituary
David “Dave” Michael Speith Sr., 72, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 after a long illness at home with his family by his side. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late John Sr. and Rose (Gerardot) Speith. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. He ran the St. Andrews Soup Kitchen for 17 years and worked for St. Andrews Catholic Church. He also worked for Three Rivers Barricade and Transport Motor Express. He loved fishing, playing euchre and working puzzles.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandy (Martin) Speith; daughters, Lynette (Josh Jackemeyer) Speith, Stacey Speith, and Jennifer (Bryan) Heckman all of New Haven; siblings, William (Pat) Spieth, Loretta Go-On, Beverly (Larry) Martin, and Shirley (Joe) Weldon all of Fort Wayne, Anthony Speith of Convoy, OH, and Helen Tatman of New Haven; sisters-in-law, Carol and Marie Speith both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Brandon and Mark Speith, Justin and Megan Heckman; and great grandchildren, Ava and Max Speith. He was also preceded in death by his son, David “Davey” Speith Jr; and siblings, Charles, John Jr., Michael Joseph, Velma Jean, Dorothy, Mary Ann, Rita, and Cecelia.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m., Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Father Bill Sullivan officiating. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a 3:30 p.m. vigil. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials to Masses at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Andrews Soup Kitchen, or Parkview Home, Health, and Hospice.
