Claudine Kummer Smith's Obituary
Claudine Kummer Smith, 92, of New Haven, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at home. Born in Poneto, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ruby Wells. She was a bookkeeper for several area businesses including Allen County Co-Op, Ruhl’s Home Furnishings, and Going’s Appliances. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who loved her family and her flowers.
She is survived by husband of 33 years, Wayne; children, Gary (Kathleen) Kummer of Chicago, Dennis Kummer and Kathy (Keith) Peters both of New Haven, and Randy (Stephanie) Kummer of Birmingham, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Carol Kummer of New Haven; step-daughters, Pam (Don) Hoopengardner, and Lynne (Marty) Adam both of Ossian, and Jean (Bob) Windmiller of Hickory, NC; sister-in-law, Jean Wells of Leo; 20 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 12 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband of 36 years, Earl M. Kummer in 1975; sons, Terry, Michael, and Kevin Kummer; and siblings, Robert and Vera.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Chaplain Karen Kosberg officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial is in Leo Memorial Cemetery, Leo. Preferred memorials to New Haven High School Athletic Dept. or Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
