Christopher "Wee-Thing" John Langford's Obituary
Christopher "Wee-Thing" John Langford, 43, of New Haven, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. To say Chris was beloved by many is an understatement. Once a Marine, always a Marine, Chris served as a sergeant with the 3rd Battalion, 25th Infantry Regiment, Weapons Company where he dutifully fulfilled his obligation to his country in a deployment to Iraq in 2005. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, but raised in Parma, Ohio. He graduated high school with honors and went on to do the same in college at Wittenberg University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. He was the President of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity for two terms during his time at Wittenberg. Following graduation, he became a kindergarten teacher and principal at Johnny Appleseed Montessori Center. Following his teaching career, Chris went on to work in the finance field with OneMain Holding, Inc. as a Regional Quality Coordinator. His drive to be an educator never ceased, though, as he was a lifelong learner and mentor to nearly everyone in his life. He was a man of strong faith and an unwavering desire to help others. He was a member of the Free Masons Lodge #740, New Haven where he was a past master and current secretary. He was also involved in numerous clubs and volunteer opportunities, including, Hash House Harriers, VFW, American Legion, and was an upstanding member of his community. An active sports parent, Chris was always the first to volunteer when help was needed. Whether it was coaching or just a helping hand, he could always be counted on for help.
He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Jennifer; children, Sydney, Abigail, and Jacob; mother, Barbara Langford; father, William (Julie) Gehling, siblings Carrie (Michael) Kent, Steve (Rachel Evans), Benjamin (Ashley), and Joseph (Clarissa) Langford; and grandmother, Marsha Gehling.
