Cheryl L. Schafer's Obituary
Cheryl L. Schafer, 64, of Woodburn, died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at home. Born in Lorain, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William and Jenny Andrews. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Woodburn where she was very active for many years, especially during Holiday Happenings. She was a cafeteria cook at New Haven High School before retiring in 2004 after 26 years of service. She was an avid softball player and coach, for various New Haven teams, as well as a girls volleyball coach at Woodburn Lutheran School.
Cheryl is survived by her children, Kelly (Rex) Schling Moore and Tyler Schafer both of Woodburn, Todd (Karen) Schling of Stoney Ridge, OH, and Brian (Andrea) Schling of Tiffin, OH; siblings, Cindy Miesle of Elmore, OH, Tom (Cathy) Andrews of Libertyville, IL, and Jeff Andrews of Woodville, OH; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Schafer in 2007.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, 7616 Bull Rapids Rd., Woodburn, with calling one hour prior to service. The Rev. Lewis Stier officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Woodburn Fire Dept. or Woodburn Lutheran School.
