Charles "Wayne" McDaniel's Obituary
Charles “Wayne” McDaniel, 85, of New Haven, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Elwood, He was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Goetz) McDaniel. He was a past member of the New Haven United Methodist Church. He retired in 2018 with McMahon’s Best-One Tire & Auto Care. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. Wayne was an avid golfer. Over his lifetime he coached his children’s baseball and softball teams. He also enjoyed handball, water skiing, roller skating, and ice skating, and was so skilled at skating, that he was invited to tour with the Holiday on Ice Company. He is survived by his children, Jason (Rhonda) McDaniel of New Haven and Kelly (Willie) LaFarge-Mahan of Loving, TX; grandchildren, Spencer LaFarge, Preston LaFarge, Emma McDaniel and Cooper McDaniel. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Barbara (Parsons) McDaniel; 4 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2023, Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial in Woodburn Mennonite Cemetery, Woodburn with military honors. Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer’s Association.
