Charles F. "Charlie" Gabet's Obituary
Charles F. "Charlie" Gabet, 82, of New Haven, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at home with family by his side. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late Joseph and Teresa (nee. Vachon) Gabet. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fort Wayne. He retired in 1995 from ITT Corporation after 47 years. We publicly thank God for giving us such a virtuous man who put his faith and family first and was such a wonderful example.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa; children, Chuck (Renee) Gabet of Ligonier, Marianne Zartman, Joanne (Tim) Tippmann, Tom (Marilyn) Gabet, Paul (Julie) Gabet, Rose Gabet, Father George Gabet, and Annette (David) Sisco all of Fort Wayne, and Terrie Gabet of Butler; brother, Norbert (Jean) Gabet of Syracuse; sister, Ruthann Gingery of Garrett; 31 grandchildren; and 64 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers; and one sister.
A Traditional Latin Requiem Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1020 Capitol Ave., Fort Wayne. Father George Gabet, F.S.S.P. officiating. Calling is 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a rosary at 6 p.m. Burial is in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to Masses or St. Mother Theodore Guerin Community.
