Charles Bandy's Obituary
Charles R. Bandy, 86, of Ft. Wayne, IN, went to be with the Lord Monday, January 10 at Woodview Health Care, Fort Wayne with family present. Born in Edinburg, IL. he was the son of the late William and Nettie Bandy. He served his country in WWII as a US Marine and was also a long standing active member of the Masonic Order Wayne Lodge and a past master in 1961. He was an active member of Forest Park United Methodist Church. He was plant manager of Woodburn Home Telephone Company and for nearly 30 years was well known in the community as “Charlie the telephone man”. He retired from Verizon in 1988. Charlie had a unique gift of bringing happiness wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; son, Eric (Judy) Bandy of Eden Prairie, MN; son-in-law, William Green of Sunbury, OH; brothers, William Bandy of Grandview, MO, Eugene Bandy of Blue Mound, Ill., Darrel and Robert Bandy both of Taylorville, Ill., and Ronald Bandy of Clinton, Ill.; sister, Grace Hadden of Stonington, Ill.; and four grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Shelley C. Green in 2005; three brothers; two sisters.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Forest Park United Methodist Church, 2100 Kentucky Ave., Fort Wayne, 46805 with calling one hour prior. Pastor Brenda Ginder officiating. Calling is also 1:30 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with Masonic service at 7:45 p.m. Burial is in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to Forest Park United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne.
