Carolyn L. "Cari" Dodane's Obituary
Carolyn Lee "Cari" Troutman Kankovsky Dodane, 81, of Woodburn, went to her eternal home to be with her Lord Jesus on Sunday, October 27, 2024, surrounded by loving family. She was born on February 20, 1943, in Washington D.C. to the late Roy William and Dorothy Virginia (Hopkins) Troutman. Her father was in the Army, so she moved often and lived in Hawaii, Maryland, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Indiana but always enjoyed her time going home to Pennsylvania and seeing her extended family, especially her cousins with whom she was very close.
She married Lyle Kankovsky on September 29, 1962, in Hawaii. She later married her second husband, Dallas Dodane, on May 5th, 1989, in Fort Wayne, Indiana who preceded her in death in 2012. She loved supporting her children, Robin and Keith, in marching band and later her grandkids and great grandkids in their many extracurricular activities.
Grandma Cari, as she was known by her grandkids, great grandkids, and the flock of kids in her neighborhood, brought joy and many fond memories to all who interacted with her. She loved the "grandkids" in her life, and they meant so much to her. Each have multiple great and joyful memories of their time with Grandma Cari, and she took pride in being their grandma.
She enjoyed reading, listening to the Bible, and could quote any verse in the King James Version. She prayed constantly and talked often about looking forward to going home to Heaven. She was a member of the Southwest Conservation Club and was a crack shot at trap and skeet. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was a member of the Knitting Club at the Woodburn library for many years. She and Dallas enjoyed their time with the "Knitwits" and the "Hookers".
She is survived by her children, Robin (Daron) Aldrich and Keith (Shirley Perrine) Kankovsky; sister, Mary Troutman; grandchildren, Mackenzie (Quinn) Jacquay and Deidre (Jared Stults) Kankovsky; great grandchildren, Clayton and Grace Rosier; and many other loved family members, neighbors, and friends at Lutheran Life Villages. She was also preceded in death by several very loved cats.
