Carl M. Griebel's Obituary
Carl M. Griebel, 92, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Marion Twp., Allen Co., he was the son of the late Martin and Clara (Doctor) Griebel. He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church (Soest), Fort Wayne and was a past 60-year member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He was a lifelong farmer and drove school bus for East Allen County Schools for 16 years. A baseball lover, he could often be found cheering on his Chicago Cubs and would reminisce of playing church softball in his youth. Carl and Ruth loved traveling with their friends and he also loved meeting with his buddies at the coffee shop to “solve world problems”. For all his loves, family is what brought him the most joy. He is survived by his children, Carla (Doug) Yoder of Goshen, Diane (Ken) Post, Bob (Christina) Griebel, Roger (Heidi) Griebel all of Fort Wayne, Jim (Jill) Griebel of Hoagland; sisters-in-law, Mary Aghabekian of Fort Wayne and Edie Griebel of Monroeville; grandchildren, Dan (Michelle), Emily, and Susannah Mishler, Kurt (Faith) and Kara Post, Katie (David) Pranger, Robert (Kenzie), Mary (Matt Schroeder), Joel, and Justin Griebel, Megan (Dustin) Daniels, Melissa (Matt) Baum, Mike Griebel, Adam (Lyndsy), Ben (Kyren), and Joe Griebel, Rachel (Josh) Chowning, and Amy Griebel; great grandchildren, Mikaela (Dayne Ousley) Post, Addison and Brooklyn Pranger, Oliver, Jackson, and Ellie Griebel, Caroline Daniels, Bailee Baum, Adalynn, Tim, Lydia, and Daniel Griebel, with one more due January 2019; and special friend, Joan Reichhart. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth in 2014; and siblings, Richard and William Griebel, Alice Rodenbeck, Maxine Bernhardt, and Frances Daly. Funeral services are 11 a.m., Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church (Soest), 9909 Wayne Trace, Fort Wayne with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to service. Pastor Josef Henning and Rev. David Griebel officiating. Visitation is also 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial in the Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
