Calvin 'Ed" Hawkins' Obituary
Calvin “Ed” Hawkins, 79, of New Haven, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at Parkview Hospital. Born in Auburn he was the son of the late Calvin C. and Gladys E. Hawkins. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Ft. Wayne. Ed was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, a member of American Legion Post 296. He retired from GTE in 1990 after 35 years of service as an engineer.
He is survived by his children: Thomas (Robin) Hawkins of Hoagland and Ellen (Keith) Kruckeberg of New Haven; sister: Alyce Child of Port Clinton, OH; grandchildren: Sam and Kevin Hawkins, Emily, Kelli, and Allie Kruckeberg; nephews: Daniel and Michael Child. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 51 years, Patricia in 2004;
Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with calling 1 hour before service time. Father James Seculoff officiating. Calling is also 2-5 & 7-9 P.M. Monday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 State Road 930 E., New Haven. Burial is in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven with military honors. Preferred memorials are to St. John’s Catholic School Athletic Fund or the American Cancer Society.
