Bobby E. Roper, Sr.'s Obituary
Bobby E. Roper, Sr., 75, formerly of New Haven and Ft. Wayne, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Justin and Eula Mae Roper. He was a former member of Statewood Baptist Church, Fort Wayne. Bobby graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology in 1974 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and began his career with International Harvester, transferring to Magnavox Corp. and then retiring from Raytheon Corp in 2001.
He is survived by his children, Bobby E. (Barbara) Roper, Jr. of Beavercreek, Ohio and Anne L. (James) Melchi of Orland; and grandchildren, Stephanie and Andrew Roper and Glen and Laurisa Weldon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Roper in 1997.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Statewood Baptist Church, 2208 North Coliseum Blvd., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Fred Woodward officiating. Calling is also 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial is in the Mongo Community Cemetery, Mongo. Preferred memorials are to Statewood Baptist Church, Fort Wayne.
