Billie Joe Winters' Obituary
Billie Joe "Bill" Winters, 84, of New Haven, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at home with his family by his side. Born in Van Wert, Ohio, he was the son of the late Elmer and Bertha (Harrison) Winters. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. He served his country in the US Army and was a member of Howard Bandelier VFW Post 2457, New Haven. He retired in 1994 from Preston Trucking with over 20 years of service. He enjoyed NASCAR, collecting cars, the Chicago Bears, running, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Paula) Winters and Dianna "Dinnie" (Gerry) Saalfrank; brother, James Mager and Terry (Bobbie) Rogers; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Michael) Winters, Billie (Chelsea) Saalfrank, Jacob Winters, Samantha (Ethan) Saalfrank, and Allyson Saalfrank; great grandchildren, Madysen, Patrich, Conner, Doris, Cooper, and one on the way; and extended family, Tina (Lee), Hayley, and Blayne Woods. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Hines) Winters in 2020; children, Kevin and Sheryl Winters; siblings, Elmer Winters, Thelma Updegrove, Valrea Myers, and Bob Mager; and great grandchildren, Jacob Michael Winters, Jr and Aubrey Rose Allgeier.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with visitation one hour. Visitation is also 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, New Haven with military honors.
