Bernice "Bunny" E. Werling, 94, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Alta (Jacoby) Bucher. She was the Valedictorian of the Leo High School Class of 1938. Her twin sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Fullerton was the Salutatorian. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Gar Creek, New Haven, choir, and ladies aid. Bernice was a published poet, writing about her family and life experiences.
She is survived by her children, Maureen Dusek and Ted Werling both of Fort Wayne, Candace (Clifford) Kunz of Godfrey, IL, Ned Werling of Lexington, KY, and Kevin (Michele) Werling of Broken Arrow, OK; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Theophil "Ted" J. Werling in 1987; stepmother, Mary E. (Brower) Bucher; two brothers; five sisters; daughter-in-law, Roberta "Bobbie" Werling.
Funeral service is 12 noon, Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church Gar Creek, 1910 N. Berthaud Rd., New Haven with calling two hours prior to service. Rev. Michael Blodgett officiating. Burial in the church cemetery, followed by a luncheon and celebration of life at the church. Preferred memorials are to the church.
