Avory E. Overbay's Obituary
Avory E. Overbay, 81, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at home. Born in Middlesboro, KY he was the son of the late Ruffs and Mayola (Garner) Overbay. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, New Haven. He retired in 2001 from Wayne Home Equipment after 36 years. He was a past member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fort Wayne. Avory loved to bowl, camp, fish, and spend time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharry; children, Avory (Joy) Overbay, Wayne (Shannon), Johnson, Ron (Julie) Johnson, Steve Johnson, Brian Overbay, Donnie Overbay, and Theresa (Don) Metzger; siblings, Jack (Sheila) Overbay, Walt Overbay, Kenneth Overbay, Dolores Shumate, Sylvia Coatney, Pruddy Meadow, Arlene (James) Teague, and Tammy Overbay; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; and one sister.
Memorial service is 2 p.m. Monday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling two hours prior to service. Chaplain Kurt Snyder officiating. Preferred memorials are to the New Haven Pet Hospital.
