Alice Evelyn Witte's Obituary
Alice Evelyn Witte, 90, of New Haven, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Towne House Retirement Community, Fort Wayne. Born in Decatur, she was the daughter of the late Reinhard and Wilma (Wefel) Werling. She was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, where she belonged to the Ladies Aid and helped as a greeter. She retired in 1992 from St. Peter's Lutheran School as an elementary school cook after 23 years. She later went on to be a personal caregiver for several elderly patients at Towne House Retirement and was also a member of The Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her daughters, Deanna Ringenberg and Cynthia (Rodney) Strautman; brother, Leroy Werling; exchange daughter, Ritva of Finland; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Carl Witte in 2019; and sister, Rosella Rekeweg.
Funeral service is 11 am Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 4 to 7 pm Monday, May 11, 2026, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials to the church.
