Alice Marie Bruick's Obituary
Alice Marie (Fuelling) Bruick, 82, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Adams Heritage Nursing Home, Monroeville. Born August 11, 1934 to Rudolph and Ida Fuelling in Decatur, Indiana. She graduated from Monmouth High School. On September 1, 1956, she married Eugene Bruick. They enjoyed 34 years together, traveling throughout the country. Her favorite places were the Grand Tetons and the Canadian Rockies. Alice was a great mom and homemaker. She never missed a game, meet, concert, play, spelling bee or science fair. She grew about every fruit and vegetable imaginable in her huge garden and was an expert canner, cook and baker. She loved to play games with her children, something she continued to do until the very end when she became a world-class Uno player. She had tremendous fashion sense. Her cat-eye glasses were legendary. She set a shining example of giving back through her countless hours of volunteering for St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, including singing in the choir for 30 years. She was a great witness to her faith especially in her last years. Alice worked for Keltsch Pharmacy and Goeglein’s and was the best Avon lady ever. She also slaved away for her sons at Bruick Brothers Produce and was named Employee of the Year six times. She loved living at Adams Heritage Nursing Home in her final years. She called everyone “Beautiful” or “Good Looking” as well as other terms of endearment. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by the staff and the many wonderful stories they shared. It was obvious that she was loved. Survivors include her children, Randy (Wendy) Bruick of Fort Wayne, Mark (Lisa) Bruick of New Haven, Carla (Lonnie) Nunez of New Haven; grandchildren Lucas (Leslie) Augustyniak, Hilary (Kirby) Carlson, Cole Bruick, Maria Nunez and Mitchell Nunez; and adorable great-grandchildren Jacob and Lucy Augustyniak. She is also survived by her sisters, who were her best friends, Arlene Niemeyer of Hoagland, Joan Thompson of Fort Wayne and Cindy (Dean) Wass of Monroeville. Other survivors include sisters–in-law Charlotte Fuelling, Joan (Ivan) Bosler, Joyce (Richard) Bertsch, and Jeanne Bruick; and dozens of good looking nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Delmore Fuelling, and brothers –in-laws Kenneth Niemeyer, Robert Thompson, Jim Bruick and Byron Bruick. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Pastor David Schultz officiating. Calling is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery.
