Yvette "Sparkie" Connin

Yvette “Sparkie” Lavonne Connin, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Lutheran Life Villages Pine Valley, Fort Wayne. Born in Sioux City, IA, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Emma (Mitchell) Grillet. She belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven where she was a member of St. John’s Widow Club, and the St. Joe’s Stroke Club. She was a candy maker at Wayne Candies, Fort Wayne for 28 years and retired in 1990. She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, bowling, baking, and shopping. She especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Ronald) Bartels of Brighton, CO, and Michael Connin of Woodburn; grandson, Justin (Myroslava) Bartels of Henderson, CO; great granddaughters, Sophia and Kristina Bartels; siblings, Henry Gillet of WA, and Mary Bland of Phoenix, AZ She was also preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Roy L. Connin, Jr.; 4 brothers and 7 sisters. Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with visitation one hour prior at the church and will be streamed on the funeral home Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/harperfh. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021, at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a rosary service at 2 p.m. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are for masses at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven and to the American Heart Association.
