    Sandra "Sandie" Beerbower

    October 9, 1944 - January 8, 2022

Sandra K. “Sandie”(Remenschneider) Beerbower of Harlan, Indiana got her wish to go home on Saturday, January, 8, 2022 at Cedar Ridge Memory Care of Fort Wayne. Daughter of the late Louis and Ruth (Geiger) Remenschneider. Sandie lived her entire life in Allen County, Indiana. She grew up on a farm in rural New Haven and loved being a farm girl. She met her husband Tom at a Rural Youth Meeting. They married on July 15, 1967 at Christ Lutheran Church, Woodburn, Indiana. She then “crossed the river” and moved to the “suburbs” of Harlan, Indiana where they lived for 50 plus years and raised their three children and multiple cats and dogs. She loved having a flower and vegetable garden and canning the crops from it. Sandie was a very vibrant lady and never knew a stranger. Quite possibly one of her favorite pastimes was talking. She would always say though after a long marathon of talking to someone that it wasn’t her doing the talking it was the other person. She was a 1963 Woodlan Graduate and worked at the Allen County Extension Office, GE, was a homemaker for many years before working at Heckley Tax Service and Christ Lutheran Church as a church secretary. She always enjoyed working and being able to help others and get a little extra talking time in. She was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was also a member of the Christ Lutheran Women and she loved singing in the Christ Lutheran Church Choir. She was also involved many years in Allen County Extension, an Allen County 4H leader, Stephens Ministry, and LWML. Her and her husband Tom enjoyed traveling, camping, spending time at their lake cottage on Big Turkey Lake, playing cards with friends. She also loved playing with her Grandchildren and would host a day at “Grandma Camp” for them in the summertime. Where she would do crafts with them but probably just letting the Grandkids do whatever the wanted. She loved her sisters and would go on “Sister’s Vacations” with them. The three sisters made this a tradition years ago and always said “what happens on sisters vacation stays on sisters vacation”. In her spare time she loved to sew, garden, scrapbook, crafts and collect lighthouses. You very rarely saw her sitting still. In fact she wore a apron a lot that said “The Hurrier I go the Behinder I get” but this wasn’t true she always seemed to have things in line and never got too riled about much but when she did that fiery red head, German gene would come out! Sandie is survived by her husband of 54 years Thomas (Tom) of Harlan, Daughters Nicole (Ben) Borchelt of New Haven, Indiana, Lisa (Ed) of Maumee Ohio, and Son Brent (Kim) Beerbower of Auburn, Indiana. She had 7 Grandchildren Madelyn, Joelle, Thomas, Bethany Borchelt, Croix and Leia Lomont, and Spencer Beerbower. She is also survived by her dear sisters Sharon Gerig of New Haven, Indiana Sue (Dennis) Litzenberg of Hobe Sound, Florida and her dear cousin Rose (Kirk) Faylor of Auburn, Indiana. She also is survived by many dear nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Ruth Remenschneider and missed them dearly. She had a love for her Lord and all those dear to her. We are happy that she can no longer be burdened with pain and suffering. Fly high our Dear Sandie. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4412 Park St, Woodburn with visitation one hour prior. Visitations are also 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial in the Scipio Cemetery, Harlan. Preferred memorials are to the church or Woodburn Lutheran School. Arrangements by Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven.
