John Denward Stratton

John Denward Stratton, 86, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Heritage Park Nursing Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Huntland, TN, he was the son of the late Charles and Flora (Isbell) Stratton. He was a member of First Baptist Church, New Haven. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, was a member of American Legion Post 330 and was a Freemason. Retiring in 1986, he worked for Phelps Dodge for 22 years and was a co-owner of TD&M Machining for 14 years. He loved NASCAR, garage sales, country music, dancing, and was an avid antique collector. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth; children, Monty (Malinda) Stratton of New Haven, John L. Stratton of Fort Wayne, and Deanna (Tim) Beauchot of Albion; sister, Juanita (Bill) Hatchett of Winchester, TN; grandchildren, Everette (Allison) Stratton, Derek (Amanda Roussey) Stratton, Emerald (Graham) Hopkins, Nicholas (Nora) Beauchot, and Annetta (Michael) Gibson; and seven great grandchildren with one on the way. He was also preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 1716 Werling Rd., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor David Trimble officiating. Calling is also 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to First Baptist Church, New Haven or ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer.
