Dr. John "Doc" Parker, Jr.,

John “Doc” Parker Jr., DVM, 89, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Genesis New Haven Center, New Haven with his family by his side. Born in Wolf Lake, he was the son of the late John Sr., and Doris (Wiley) Parker. He proudly served his country during WWII in the Navy. Doc worked out of his truck visiting the local farming community with large animals and caring for small pets out of his office. He was a member of Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, Northeast Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, and The American Legion Post 377, Woodburn, John enjoyed his horses with sulky racing, pacers, and trotters. He loved fishing, gardening, and woodworking. He was a huge fan of his alma mater Michigan State. He lived his life devoted to the service of others and his family, touching the lives of those within the local community as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine for 42 years. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Esther Elnor (Clevenger) Parker; Children Stephen (Deborah) Parker, of Hammond, WI, Susan (James) Courtney of New Haven, and John (Annette) Parker III, of Saint Charles, MO; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alton, Robert, and Jack Parker. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, 10145 Maysville Rd, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Pastor Steven Conner officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 SR 930 E., New Haven. Burial at Scipio Cemetery, Harlan with military honors. Preferred memorials are to the church and Heartland Services.
